To the Honorable City Council:

In response to your agenda item #209608, the request of the City Council that the Election Commissioner provide in writing an explanation of the current practices and procedures used to update voter rolls with current addresses, I submit the following:

There are multiple ways that a person can register to vote, change their address, or change their political party:
•                     The voter can come in person to City Hall.
•                     The voter can register online if they have a driver’s license (electronic signature on license).
•                     If the voter does not have a driver’s license, they can still go online, fill out the form, download it, sign it, and mail or deliver it to City Hall.
•                     A voter can register to vote, change their address, or political party at the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
•                     When at a Social Services Agency, a voter can register to vote, change their address or political party.
•                     When responding to the City Census, there is a box to check to have a voter registration form mailed to you.

Respectfully submitted,

Nick Salerno
Election Commissioner
