To the Honorable Board:

Board Order #191004:

That the Director of Traffic and Parking determine if a STOP sign should be placed on Summer St at its intersection with Benton Road

The installation of Stop signs falls under the standards of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).  These are Federal, State and City standards.  Per the MUTCD, Stop signs “are installed at an intersection of a less important road with a main road”.  At the intersection of Benton Road and Summer St, the less important street is Benton Road and the main road is Summer St.  This intersection is properly signed.  Per the MUTCD, a Stop sign can not be installed on Summer St at this location.

Board Order #191012:

That the Director of Traffic and Parking provide increased enforcement of parking violations on Beacon Street, especially on weekends.

PCO enforcement will be reviewed for this area, especially on weekends.  Proper staffing and enforcement for Beacon St for all shifts/time periods will be maintained.
