Requesting acceptance of a $10,120.20 grant from the Cambridge Health Alliance acting as agent for the MA Dept. of Public Health, for the Health Dept.'s tuberculosis prevention and control efforts.

Dear Honorable Board Members:
The Health Department of the City of Somerville has been awarded a Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Grant from Cambridge Health Alliance acting as the fiscal agent for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the amount of $10,120.20.
The funds will be used to purchase medical supplies, translations, printing, incentives to patients and taxi vouchers to transport patients to physician appointments. The funds will also be used for training to support the Public Health Nurse’s Tuberculosis visits.
In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, section 53A which requires a vote of the Board of Alderman for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I respectfully request your approval to accept this grant which totals $10,120.20.
