To the Honorable Board:
Agenda Item 201135
That the Director of Traffic and Parking investigate making Brook Street a one way street, going away from Cross Street.
The process to alter traffic patterns on a street from a two way street to a one way street is outlined in Article XIV of the Traffic Commission Regulations. A petition with the altered traffic pattern proposal with either nine signatures or 33% of impacted residents must be submitted to the Traffic Commission Secretary and requested to be placed as an agenda item for the next Traffic Commission mtg. Once the petition is verified with proper signatures and number of signatures and included as an Traffic Commission agenda item, Traffic and Parking will review the request. At the Traffic Commission mtg. proponents and opponents to the request can inform the Traffic Commission of their position. Traffic and Parking will also make a recommendation to the Traffic Commission based on the review. The Traffic Commission will then vote on the agenda item.
Agenda Item 201139
That the Director of Traffic and Parking replace the missing FIRE LANE sign on the corner of Pinckney Street and Pinckney Place.
Any missing Fire Lane signs at the above location will be replaced.
Agenda Item 201140
That the Director of Traffic and Parking replace the damaged NO PARKING sign in front of Taco Loco.
Traffic and Parking is not aware of a no parking sign in front of Taco Loco. Traffic and Parking has scheduled for two meters to be installed in front of Taco Loco.
Agenda Item 201142
That the Director of Traffic and Parking install parking meters in front of 161 Broadway.
Traffic and Parking has scheduled for installation of one parking meter at this location.
Agenda Item 201143
That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Chief of Police regularly inspect 161 Broadway for double parked vehicles and other traffic violations.
Broadway is on a defined Parking Control Officer’s route. All observed parking violations are issued citations.
Agenda Item 201148
That the Director of Traffic and Parking replace the unreadable PRIVATE WAY and TOW ZONE signs at Olive Avenue and Linden Avenue, and repair the NOT A THROUGH STREET sign at 10 Olive Avenue.
The above referenced signs will be either replaced or repaired.
Agenda Item 201149
That the Director of Traffic and Parking replace the broken pop-up Caution sign in the crosswalk on Morrison Avenue at Highland Road.
The Pedestrian Impact Recovery System at this location will be replaced.
Agenda Item 201150
That the Director of Traffic and Parking put up a second DO NOT ENTER sign on the west side of the entrance from Medford Street into the CVS parking lot.
A 2nd Do Not Enter sign cannot be installed at the exit from the CVS parking lot onto Medford St. Due to the infrastructure in this area (CVS building and exit driveway) if a 2nd Do Not Enter sign is installed it would be damaged immediately and repeatedly by vehicles/trucks exiting the parking lot as the proximity of the building influences motorists traffic patterns that exit the parking lot
Agenda Item 201272
That the Director of Traffic and Parking paint the lane stripe on Holland Street, in front of the fire station, and on Broadway in Teele Square.
Due to safety concerns, the Somerville Fire Department has requested that the Stop Line on Holland Street in front of the Fire Station be relocated easterly on Holland St and that the intersection not have and double yellow center lines. Traffic and Parking has accommodated this request. A “new stripe” cannot be installed at this location. The lane strip on Broadway will be scheduled to be repainted.
Please contact me with any questions.
