Official Text

To the Honorable City Council:

In response to Agenda item 208488:

That the Director of Inspectional Services take steps to eliminate the rat problems near 10 Hill Street.

HHS - Environmental Health Coordinator Assessment:

10 Hill Street: there was a lot of vegetation in the front and side yard, but from what I could observe there were stones, not bare earth, underneath all the plants, and did not detect any evidence of burrows. There were a few porches nearby that looked like they had potential to have a rodent burrow, but again, did not see any evidence. Staff spoke to a resident who was in his yard nearby who stated that he’s lived in the area since January and hasn’t seen any rat activity. There was one 311 report about the area in the middle of June, but otherwise there have been no other complaints from the area. One trash ticket was issued on the street last week, and there’s a 2-family building on the corner nearby that has had 3 trash tickets since the beginning of the year.

Staff will send out information in the area about the residential program.

Please contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Douglas S Kress

Director of Health and Human Services
