To the Honorable Board:

 

I respectfully request your approval to accept a grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, State 911 Department for the FY12 State 911 Department Training Grant in the amount of up to $47,496.

 

The purpose of the State 911 Department Training Grant Program is to reimburse primary PSAPs, regional PSAPs, regional secondary PSAPS, and RECCs for allowable expenses relating to the training and certification of enhanced 911 telecommunicators. Primary and Regional PSAPs and RECCs who transfer 911 calls to a secondary PSAP, limited secondary PSAP, and/or ringing PSAP may be reimbursed for expenses relating to the training and certification of enhanced 911 telecommunicators located at a such secondary PSAP, limited secondary PSAP, and/or ringing PSAP.

 

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, we request your approval to move this request to the Board.
