To the Honorable Board:

In response to Agenda item 17779, a Resolution to recognize the Union Square Neighborhood Council, submitted by Aldermen JT Scott and Ben Ewen-Campen, I am submitting comments, attached as a PDF, suggesting a temporary, short-term recognition of the Council, pending certain actions.

As someone who designed and administered the election system for the Board of the Neighborhood Council, I had a close-up view of the process. While I believe it was well-run, and in many ways highly successful, there were, in retrospect, shortcomings and opportunities for improvement. I hope my comments may be helpful as you consider the Resolution.
