To the Honorable Board:

 

Agenda Item 204876                     

That the Director of SPCD and the Director of Traffic and Parking meet with the Committee on Traffic and Parking to discuss policies and procedures to limit residential parking permits for residents of properties that are granted relief from parking requirements by the Zoning Board of Appeals or the Planning Board.

 

The Director of Traffic and Parking will meet with the Committee of Traffic and Parking at their convenience.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking add a second crosswalk and install a flashing PEDESTRIAN CROSSING sign on both sides of Summer Street at Cherry Street to enhance safety for children and parents walking to the Kennedy School.

 

This Board Order is a request to install a new crosswalk on Summer St at Cherry St.  To install a new crosswalk, a new crosswalk is mandated to comply with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  These standards mandate ADA ramps (in compliance with the latest ADA ramp specifications) at each end of the crosswalk.  There are no ADA ramps for a 2nd crosswalk across Summer St at Cherry St.  Until ADA ramps are constructed to required specifications at this location, a new crosswalk cannot be installed.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking install signs on the eastbound side of Broadway to restrict traffic on Victoria Street, Garrison Avenue and Farragut Avenue.

 

The approval of Turning Prohibitions is a function of the City’s Traffic Commission. This Board Order will be placed as an agenda item for the next Traffic Commission.
