Official Text

To the Honorable Board:

I write to you on behalf of the Union Square Main Streets (USMS) Board of Directors Executive Committee members who are Lindsay Neu, President; Jess Willis, Vice President; Adaias Souza, Treasurer; Mike Katz, Clerk; and Jim McGinnis.

The USMS Executive Committee would like to endorse the attached proposal by Philip Parsons in response to Agenda item 17779, a Resolution to recognize the Union Square Neighborhood Council, submitted by Aldermen JT Scott and Ben Ewen-Campen, that suggests a temporary, short-term recognition of the Council, pending certain actions. They would also like me to convey their support for President Ballantyne's intent to refer the matter back to the Legislative Matters Committee.

In accordance with our mission of working collaboratively to actively support a vibrant neighborhood by preserving the character and advancing the economic strength of the Union Square business district and community, we are particularly concerned by the lack of any brick and mortar business representation on the Union Square Neighborhood Council Board.

We thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Esther Hanig

Executive Director
