Good afternoon City Clerk Long,
I am the legislative liaison for the MBTA/MassDOT. In regards to your inquiry relative to overgrowth at Davis Square Busway. I am pleased to inform you that the Maintenance & Improvements Crew was dispatched to the site back in August and a comprehensive cleanup was completed. Maintenance staff have been instructed to routinely monitor and maintain the area to avoid future overgrowth.
Also, the MBTA is planning two major impvoements to bike parking at Davis Square. A new "Pedal & Park" facility is proposed for installation adjacent to the College Avenue head house. This will provide high security parking for apprioximately 50-75 bikes, In addition, new covered multi-level bike racks are proposed to be installed behind the Holland Avenue head house, providing parking for approximately 50 bikes. Both projects are currently in the preliminary design phase and should be completed by Spring 2011.
