To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request an appropriation in the amount of one hundred twenty thousand, four hundred twenty dollars   ($120,420.00) from the Unreserved Fund Balance (“Free Cash”) for the payment of medical bills.

These bills include multiple payments for catastrophic injuries resulting from the Police Officer shooting incident which occurred on November 2, 2010 along with other bills including three officers who were stabbed on July 23, 2010. This also includes other medical bills which were anticipated and normally occur as a result of line of duty activities. The extent and the cost incurred by these injuries is not consistent with anything that the department could have reasonably projected.
