To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $108,226.70 from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council to the Health and Human Services Department, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds.

The purpose of this grant is to pay for the implementation of the Somerville-Cambridge Shared Public Health Service Initiative which is funded through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Public Health Excellence Grant Program for Shared Services. The City of Somerville will host a Shared Services Coordinator who will be based in the City of Somerville's Health Department.
