To the Honorable City Council:
The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council approve a change in program qualification criteria for the Senior Tax Work Off Program to a maximum income of 80% of area medium income.
To participate in the program an applicant must (1) reside in Somerville, (2) in the home where the tax exemption will be applied, and (3) have an income under the maximum limit. This request seeks only to change the maximum income limit, all other eligibility requirements would remain in place.
Additional information can be found in the memo attached and appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
