To the Honorable Board:

The Fire Department has been awarded $7,815.00 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety for the FY2011 Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E.) Program Grant.  The funds will be used to provide fire safety education to children in the City of Somerville.

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants, or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the commonwealth, a county or a municipality or agency thereof, I respectfully request that you accept this grant.
