To the Honorable Board:
B.O.A. #190816
That the Director of Traffic and Parking post Resident Permit Parking signage on the public side of East Albion St.
DPW has informed Traffic and Parking that East Albion St from Fremont St to Moreland St is a public way. T&P has contacted the Somerville Fire Dept regarding public safety vehicle access to this street. T&P has been informed that a Fire Lane most likely will be required on this street. A determination of which side of the street a Fire Lane will be necessary and will be made by the Fire Department after snow banks have been diminished in this area. When this determination has been made, T&P will inform DPW through work orders which side of this street will be posted for Resident Permit Parking signs and which side of this street will be posted as a Fire Lane.
B.O.A. #190817
That the Chief of Police and the Director of Traffic and Parking determine if a public safety hazard or a quality of life issue exists with respect to the number and speed of vehicles entering Bonair St from Dana St, and if so recommend an alternative traffic pattern.
B.O.A. #39 from 9/23/10 requested T&P conduct a study on the number of vehicles entering Bonair St from Dana St and recommend a solution to prevent these vehicles from utilizing this as a cut through.
T&P’s response was that T&P was in the process of allocating personnel and equipment to conduct study. After assembling the necessary resources a study would be conducted and findings forwarded to Board. This study has not been conducted. However, T&P has reviewed the intersection several times and has not found a significant number of vehicles traveling this route. That said, if an alternative traffic pattern were to be proposed, such as reversing the one-way travel of Wigglesworth St, it may reduce cut-through traffic at Bonair/Dana.
T&P has reviewed this intersection several times during different time periods and days of the week and has not found a public safety hazard or quality of life issue with respect to the number and speed of vehicles entering Bonair St from Dana St
B.O.A # 190687

T&P will discuss with the Chief of Police the need for a police detail at the Charter School during drop off and pick up hours.
