To the Honorable City Council:
The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council appropriate $50,000 from the Community Preservation Act (CPA) Budgeted Reserve to the Somerville Housing Authority to undertake improvements to the open space at the Mystic River/View developments. The appropriation will be allocated to the Open Space and Recreational Land CPA category (Fund #3251).
The following funding conditions have been placed on the project:
1. If the Mystic Development open space is subject to a change in use which reduces or eliminates the open/outdoor recreation space within 50 years of the approval of this grant the funds will be required to be returned to the CPA Open Space Reserve, unless the Community Preservation Committee consents to allow the City to retain the funds;
2. CPA funds will not pay for design or installation of artificial turf; and
3. A detailed scope for site improvements to be paid for with CPA funds will be provided before funds are disbursed. Details of this request are available in the attached funding recommendation from the Community Preservation Committee.
This item supersedes a previous authorization, 26-0155, due to a clerical error.
