body
Official Text
Dear Honorable Board:
In the course of removing old MBTA railroad ties and clearing a right-of-way for the future Community Path, KSS Realty Partners salvaged several historic artifacts. They have offered to donate these items to the City for re-installation as part of the Community Path Project. The artifacts will enhance the rail-to-trail project and remind users of Somerville’s past transportation and industry elements.
The items to be donated are: one (1) grade crossing signal; one (1) switch signal and switch stand; and one (1) railroad frog (part of the track where two lines intersected).
In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a county or municipality or agency thereof, I request approval to accept these donations, of unknown value, from 56 & 61 Clyde Street Acquisition LLC/KSS Realty Partners. The MBTA has granted KSS permission to make this donation.
OSPCD staff will be available to answer any questions you may have concerning the proposed plan for the Community Path Extension.
Thank you for your consideration.
