Official Text

To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $3,000,000 from MassWorks Infrastructure Program to the Department of Infrastructure & Asset Management, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds. This award supplements a $3,600,000 MassWorks Infrastructure Program award granted to the City in 2024.

The purpose of this grant is to pay for initial design and owner's project representative services for the Inner Belt & Brickbottom Pedestrian Crossing located at 100 Chestnut, as well as Phase II design and construction services related to Inner Belt Rd., New Washington St., and Poplar St., enhancing the southwestern corridor to the East Somerville Green Line MBTA Station.

Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item.

Respectfully submitted,

Katjana Ballantyne, Mayor
