To the Honorable Board:My name is Edgard Fayad. I am writing on behalf of mass inspection at 712 mystic ave somerville ma. I would like to lift the condition from the mechanical repair license given to mass inspection at the last hearing on Wednesday June 3rd 2015 [Licenses and Permits Committee Meeting]. We perform commercial inspection on vehicles and trucks. We need to disassemble mechanical parts of the vehicle to be inspected as a part of the inspection. For example, we need to remove the wheels and parts of the rear brakes to inspect the braking system on heavy duty trucks. In addition there is what we call a challenge inspection, it occurs when a vehicle fails the inspection, the motorist has the right to challenge the results. The registry of motor vehicles would send a representative to the facility to investigate the results. They will need to lift the vehicle in order to know the reason of the failure. In addition, if a vehicle has rust on the undercarriage, we have to lift the subject vehicle to check the brake lines and gas lines and make sure that the frame is ok and that the vehicle can be operated safely. Some other vehicles are subject to an allowable play in there suspension so we need to lift the vehicle to measure that play in the front end. For all those reasons the previous owner had the lift in the garage. Basically we will operate the facility the same way the previous owner operated it for a very long time. We don't want to change anything in the operation of the facility. We will be producing the same minimum noise produced by the previous owner. We will be abiding by the laws and regulations of the registry of motor vehicles and following the directions and the guidelines of the state inspection rules in Massachusetts. Thank you for your help.
