Esteemed colleagues:
Councilors’ individual shared budget priority memos should be submitted by the March 14 regular meeting in order to be included in the shared budget priorities process for FY25. Ideally these would be submitted by the February 22 regular meeting out of respect to City Council support staff.
Please note that councilors still can submit individual budget priority memos for consideration by the Administration after the March 14 regular meeting (ahead of the Administration’s March 28 deadline), but these budget priorities can not be considered as part of the shared budget priorities process.
City Council support staff will meet with councilors after their individual budget priority memos are submitted to ensure an understanding of the intent of individual priorities in that councilor’s budget priority memo, and councilors will be asked to categorize their individual budget priorities from a list of categories, with “None of the Above” being an option and councilors then able to create a new category for that item.
There will be a Finance Committee of the Whole virtual public hearing on Tuesday, March 19 at 7 PM. There will be live interpretation, as well as a physical location in a municipal space for members of the public to come give public comment.
The Finance Committee then will meet as a committee of the whole on Tuesday, March 26, at 7 PM in the City Council Chamber to identify its top shared budget priorities for FY25 and take up resolutions conveying these priorities to the Administration.
