To the Honorable Board:

In response to Agenda Item:

Agenda Item 203967

That the Director of Traffic and Parking explain by September 14, 2017 why residential parking permits are not issued with a renewal date of one year from the last day of the month in which it was purchased, as state inspection stickers are.

The city is divided into 8 zones. The zones are for renewal and enforcement.

The renewal months are January through August.

Renewal for January begins November 1st, February begins December 1st, March begins January 1st, April begins February 1st, May begins March 1st, June begins April 1st, July begins May 1st, August begins June 1st.

All new residents are granted one month free to change over their registration to Somerville.

Same expirations are essential for enforcement. Visitor permits are not city-wide it would be impossible to enforce if all permits in neighborhoods did not have the same expiration.
