Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and understand my concern.

I've been using the Nunziato Off Leash Recreation Area now for a little over 2 years.  I've enjoyed this space by training my dog, playing ball, and socializing with other peers in the community each morning and evening.  The Nunziato Off Leash Recreation Area is the perfect space for me (and others) as it's close to my home.

Recently I've been locked out of Nunziato Off Leash Recreation Area and was surprised to learn the public space will be locked daily, which has become a great concern to me.  At 8AM I've been locked out of the park on the following dates: October 6, 2010, October 9, 2010, October 16, 2010, October 26, 2010, November 4, 2010 and November 11, 2010.

These dates are marked on my calendar as extra days I had to bring my dog (and pay) for daycare to ensure he had been exercised properly since these are the mornings I had to come up with an alternate plan.

I'm puzzled as to why the city is punishing young hard working professionals like myself by implementing such a "lock policy" with no strategy, no dialog with it's citizens, and still to date there has been no progressive action to help the responsible dog owners in Somerville.  I believe taking disciplinary action(s) against our very own Department of Public Works employee(s) is a punitive measure, and these individuals who work for the DPW have been doing an outstanding service to our City and in my opinion should not be held solely responsible for this lock policy.

Thank you in advance for any help and support you can provide the responsible dog owners in Somerville.

Best Regards,

Brian Davis
