To the Honorable City Council:

I hereby request your consideration and approval a home rule petition to authorize the continued employment of Acting Somerville Police Chief Charles Femino in that capacity until the date on which a permanent Police Chief is appointed, he is relieved of his duties by the mayor, or he reaches the age sixty-six, whichever occurs first. This Home Rule Petition is necessary to allow Acting Chief Femino to continue in that role past the age of 65, as the City engages in the process to select a permanent Police Chief.
