Conveying the 2010 Annual Report of the Bicycle Advisory Committee.

To the Honorable Board:

In accordance with the City of Somerville Charter Section 2-303, I hereby submit the Somerville Bicycle Advisory Committee’s annual report.

The Bike Committee continues to provide an invaluable service to the residents of Somerville by assisting with the installation of accommodations for bicycling in road resurfacing and other construction projects, increasing the availability and safety of recreational bikeways in the city, providing education to both bicyclists and motorists to promote safety; and helping OSPCD staff develop a long range master plan designating priority routes for bicycling.  This past year has been an especially productive year, with more than 10 miles of bicycle infrastructure (bike lanes and sharrows) added to our network, as part of the “10 in 2010” Campaign.

I offer the Somerville Bike Committee my sincere thanks for their service and dedication.
