To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request your acceptance of a Grant from CHNA 17 in the amount of $9,900.

The Health & Human Services Department of the City of Somerville has been awarded a CHNA17 Mental Health and Wellbeing Grant in the amount of $9,990.00

 

These funds will be used to partner with the City’s Personnel Department and the Somerville Police Department to expand the current customer service policy to include awareness and informed response to individuals impacted by mental illness.  Provides for a 90-minute training in mental health awareness and de-escalation techniques that will be a standard for all front-line staff that interact with the public and include policy updates regarding when to call 911 to include a request for CIT-trained officers.

 

 

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, section 53A which requires a vote of the Board of Alderman for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I request approval to accept the initial payment of this grant which totals $9,990.00.
