Official Text

To the Honorable Board:

Agenda Item 197260

That the Director of Traffic and Parking inform the Amigos Market on Broadway that delivery trucks should park on Broadway, not Franklin St., and issue citations for violations.

Parking Control Officers will issue citations to delivery trucks for any parking violations observed on Broadway and Franklin St

Agenda Item 197275

That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Traffic Engineer analyze the intersection of Glenwood Road and Medford Street and report to the Ward 5 Alderman on options to make exiting from Glenwood Road onto Medford Street less dangerous.

The intersection of Glenwood Road onto Medford St is similar to numerous other intersections throughout Somerville. While sight lines from Glenwood Road onto Medford St are not optimal they are adequate. In order to increase the sight lines at this intersection in particular for vehicles traveling EB on Medford St, two to four parking spaces would have to be eliminated on Medford St. Traffic and Parking defers to the Ward Alderman regarding implementation of parking restrictions at this intersection.

Agenda Item 197276

That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the Traffic Engineer consider traffic calming options for Trull Street.

A site review was conducted of Trull St by the Director of Traffic and Parking and the City Traffic Engineer. Trull St is a one way (northbound) residential street from Vernon St to Medford St. Observed vehicle speed on Trull St appears to be under the primae facia speed of 30 MPH. An empirical review of these observations could be established by the Somerville Police Department conducting radar speed observation on Trull St.

Possible traffic calming options include the planting of additional trees. Also a bump out on Trull St at Vernon St is an option for traffic calming. Bump outs are constructed by the DPW. Construction of bump out usually occurs when the street is reconstructed.

Please contact me with any questions.
