Official Text

To the Honorable Board of Aldermen:

The following are responses by Traffic and Parking to various B.O.A. Orders of May 13, 2010.

B.O.A. #14

That the Director of Traffic and Parking determine if the placement of the handicap parking sign in front of Mt Pleasant Street is appropriate as it appears to take up two spaces.

The length of the handicap parking space in front of Mt Pleasant St is approximately 28’.   The 1st pole for the handicap parking space sign is approximately 6’ away from a curb cut (vehicles are restricted from parking within 2’ of a curb cut).  Thus the length being utilized by this handicap parking space is approximately 34”.  The length of a handicap parking space should be approximately 22’.  It is recommended that a handicap parking sign be installed 24’ (as stated above parking is restricted within 2’ of a curb cut) from the driveway/curb cut. DPW has been apprised of the above.

B.O.A. #29

That the Director of Traffic and Parking place a new crosswalk at an appropriate location on Concord Ave between Springfield and Beacon Streets.

Traffic and Parking has reviewed the Concord Ave corridor between Springfield St and Beacon St.  A potential location for a new crosswalk along this corridor would be in the vicinity of Wyatt St and Leon St.  However a new crosswalk can only be installed where there are appropriate and proper ADA ramps present.  There are no ADA ramps at this location or along the above described corridor on Concord Ave.                  Until ADA ramps are installed Traffic and Parking can not install a new crosswalk along this corridor.

B.O.A. #33

That the director of Traffic and Parking assign a PCO in and around the Armory on Thursday through Sunday nights to enforce all parking restrictions.

A PCO has been assigned the above described route on the nights requested.
