Official Text

Dear Honorable Board Members:

The City of Somerville Health Department and Somerville Trauma Response Network has been awarded a mini-grant from CHNA17 in the amount of $5,000.

The funds will be used to implement the Mental Health First Aid (MFHA) program in the City of Somerville by providing training for two persons who will then provide instruction for a minimum of four training in Somerville for community organizations and service providers.  MHFA is a groundbreaking public education program that helps the public identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse disorders.

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, section 53A which requires a vote of the Board of Alderman for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I request approval to accept this grant which totals $5,000.

Respectfully submitted.
