To the Honorable City Council:
The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 22J, which authorizes an annual increase of up to 100% of the personal exemption amount granted under General Laws Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 22, 22A, 22B, 22C, 22E and 22F, subject to the conditions in Clause 22J. This would be effective for applicable exemptions granted for any fiscal year beginning on or after July 1, 2026.
