To the Honorable Board:

The City of Somerville, Arts Council has been awarded a grant of $11,500 from the New England Foundation for the Arts  to support the Arts Council's purchase of a Union Square public art.

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a county or municipality or agency thereof, I respectfully request that Your Honorable Board approve the expenditure of this grant.
