Official Text

That the Director of Engineering contact the Ward 7 Alderman to explain why the 40 unit Cambridge housing development at the end of Elmwood Avenue is allowed to tie into Somerville’s combined sewer system on Elmwood Avenue, since Somerville’s adjacent Elmwood Avenue and Howard Street experience severe flooding and backflow of sewage into Somerville residences when there are rain storms. No permit should be allowed until all methods to mitigate flooding and backflow of sewage into residences in this area are mitigated.
