Official Text

To the Honorable Board:

Agenda Item 197464

That the Director of Traffic and Parking monitor the area around 50 Oliver Street for non-permitted parking.

This area is on a defined Parking Control Officer’s route.  When observed, all parking violations are issued citations.

Agenda Item 197468

That the Director of Traffic and Parking inspect the “state” streets for vehicles parked at metered spots, causing numerous streets to have blind exits onto Broadway, and report the findings to the Ward One Alderman.

The Director of Traffic and Parking will review vehicles parked at the “state” streets intersecting with Broadway and report the findings to the Ward 1 Alderman

Agenda Item 197496

That the Director of Traffic and Parking replace the pop-up caution signs that have disappeared from the crosswalks on Morrison Avenue at Highland Road and on Lowell Street at Albion Street.

Pedestrian Impact Recovery Systems have been installed again at both locations.

Agenda Item 197497

That the Director of Traffic and Parking petition the Traffic Commission to create a NO PARKING zone at 278 Lowell Street to keep the intersection there clear.

An agenda item on the behalf of the Ward 5 Alderman concerning the above issue was placed on the Traffic Commission agenda in September.

Agenda Item 197498

That the Director of Traffic and Parking repaint both crosswalks on Glenwood Road

Both crosswalks at Glenwood Rd are scheduled to be repainted next Spring.

Agenda Item 197499

That the Director of Traffic and Parking consider reducing the speed limit to 25 MPH on Porter Street between Summer and Elm Streets.

A Speed Zone Study will be prepared and forwarded to MassDOT requesting that the Primae Facia speed on Porter St be changed to a posted speed of 25 MPH after the required radar speed observations are forwarded to Traffic and Parking from the Somerville Police Dept.  The radar speed observations must support the change in speed zone request in order for the Speed Zone Study to be forwarded to MassDOT.
