Official Text

WHEREAS:                      The Spring Hill Sewer and Streetscapes project has launched, requiring multiple traffic detours and;

WHEREAS:                     Ongoing private construction projects throughout Spring & Central Hill are causing construction-related detours; and

WHEREAS:                     Residents are reporting occasions when all routes to their streets are blocked, without warning or legal detours; and

WHEREAS:                     The Cambridge Health Alliance location on Central St has reported on multiple locations that road closures have made it impossible for staff or patients to reach their facility, without any warning or legal detour; and

WHEREAS:                     Despite efforts to coordinate road closures and create traffic management plans, Police details in the field often entirely close street access without coordinating across sites; and

WHEREAS:                     These ongoing, unpredictable street closure conflicts are creating an ongoing dangerous situation and unsafe driving behaviors; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED:                     That the Administration develop an interdepartmental plan and clear chain of command to ensure that road closures are planned and coordinated with one another so that there is always, at a bare minimum, at least one legal route to each street.
