Official Text

To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $310,000 from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs to the Office of Sustainability and Environment, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds.

The purpose of this grant is to support the region’s planning for a network of community resilience centers, also known as resilience hubs. By co-designing these facilities with the community and neighboring municipalities, resilient community centers can become places for people to increase their social resilience, as well as providing safe havens during extreme weather. This funding supports Action CR-2.2.B identified in Climate Forward.

Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item.

Respectfully submitted,

Katjana Ballantyne, Mayor
