To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $24,117.07 from Metro Mayors Shannon Initiative to the Police Department under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant requires some level of matching funds from the city.

The purpose of this grant is to pay for OT for youth Police Academy staffing, OT for officers staffing two youth basketball programs, OT for officers to attend workshops and dialogue sessions with at risk youth and their parents and guardians, and OT for hotspot patrols in areas of concentrated firearm violence. The City match would be $8,039.02.
