Official Text

To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $2,500,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency as part of the 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act to IAM-Engineering, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant requires 20% matching funds from the city, to be matched from a previously appropriated bond (fund 6424) for this project.

The purpose of this grant is to pay for a portion of the construction of the McGrath Highway box culvert and utilities as part of the Poplar Street Pump Station. Work is to include but is not limited to all equipment, labor, and materials to furnish and install the inlet box culvert on McGrath Highway, street utilities, on McGrath Highway and Poplar Street, and the roadway restoration on McGrath Highway and Poplar Street. The grant requires a 20% local cost share, which obligation will be achieved using funds previously appropriated in fund 6424 for the project.

Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item.

Respectfully submitted,

Katjana Ballantyne, Mayor
