Official Text

To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request an appropriation of $41,000 from the Capital Stabilization Fund to retain a consultant to conduct a Police Department Headquarters Facility Feasibility Study. The Police Headquarters Facility Feasibility Study will work to review current and future space needs of the Somerville Police Department.  Using this information, the consultant will then work with the City to review potential sites and how a Police Station would lay out on those sites.  Based on a preferred alternative selected by the City, the consultant would then prepare construction cost estimates and a final report.

Specific tasks will be broken down as follows:

1.                     Review needs assessment and future needs

3.                     Site selection

4.                     Conceptual layouts

5.                     Construction cost estimate / Opinion of probably project costs

6.                     Final report and presentation

Capital Projects Director Rob King will be available to discuss this proposed project with your Honorable Board.

Respectfully,

Joseph A. Curtatone

Mayor
