Requesting the acceptance of a $32,000 grant for FY2012 for the Police-Based Jail Diversion Program Grant for individuals with mental illnesses or emotional disturbances.

To the Honorable Board:

 

I respectfully request that the Honorable Board of Aldermen accept a grant from the Executive Office of Health and Human Services Department of Mental Health to reimburse the Somerville Police Department for the Police-Based Jail Diversion Program Grant(s) for Individuals with Mental Illnesses or Emotional Disturbances. The grant amount available to the City for FY12 is $32,000.

 

The purpose of this grant is to fund a proposal for a Crisis Intervention Team and Innovative Jail Diversion Program.

 

In accordance with M.G.L., Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants, or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I respectfully request that you accept this grant for final approval.
