To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request your approval to accept a Grant Award from the Office of Justice Programs under the FY11 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Program in the amount of $31,809.00.

These funds will be used to purchase a computer-based use-of-force and firearms training tool to increase the weapons skills and safety of the police department's sworn officers.

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants, or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I request that you accept this grant for final approval.
