Requesting approval of an Administrative Order relative to the organization of administrative offices.

To the Honorable Board:

 

Pursuant to Section 37 of Chapter 400 of the Acts of 2012, which amended the Charter of the City of Somerville, I hereby introduce the attached administrative order which establishes, subject to your approval, an administrative code to provide for a modified internal organization and administration of the government of City of Somerville.

 

The intention and purpose of an administrative code is to establish a legal, practical and efficient plan of organization and administration procedures, which allows for a more effective delivery of municipal services to the residents of Somerville. The duties and functions of agencies described in the attached administrative order are intended to be read broadly and serve to illustrate but not to circumscribe the duties and responsibilities of the agencies of the city under the charter, ordinances and the general laws.
