To the Honorable City Council:

I hereby convey that at the  May 19^th the Memorialization Committee meeting the Committee unanimously approved to re-name the new park located at 60 Cross Street East, ESCA PARK, in honor of former neighborhood activist group East Somerville Committee Action Group (ESCA). At the April 12^th meeting the Memorialization Committee voted to honor neighborhood activist Barbara Cassesso, but she asked that the Committee reconsider to find a name that was more inclusive of all members of the neighborhood that fought for environmental justice and the I-93 Highway that cut off the neighborhood from Assembly Row, this name was her suggestion.
