To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request that the Honorable Board of Aldermen accept a grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security Highway Safety Division to reimburse the Somerville Police Department for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket Mobilization not to exceed $20,000. The purpose of this grant is to provide funding for high-visibility traffic enforcement of motor vehicle laws, including but not limited to, speeding and aggressive driving, impaired driving and occupant protection.

In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants, or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I request that you accept this grant for final approval.

Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Respectfully submitted,
