To the Honorable Board:
I respectfully request an appropriation in the amount of $67,188 from the Salary and Wage Stabilization Fund to the Fire Alarm, Personal Services Account to fund a successor collective bargaining agreement between the City of Somerville and the Firefighters Association of Somerville, Local 76/Fire Alarm Unit for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015.
The duration clause of the FAS Local 76 (Fire Alarm Unit) collective bargaining Agreement is amended to establish a successor Agreement from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2015 and a further successor Agreement from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018. The requested appropriation is needed to fund the first successor Agreement. Appropriations for the second successor Agreement will be made in subsequent fiscal years' budgets.
The total cost of the July 1, 2012 -June 30, 2015 Agreement is $99,158. Funds totaling $31,970 are currently available in the Fire Alarm Personal Services Account due to a vacant Fire Alarm Operator position. The net appropriation of $67,188 should be distributed to two accounts:
