To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council approve the solar net-metering agreement attached with this letter, negotiated between the City of Somerville and ECA Solar. The net-metering agreement would provide immediate and long-term energy cost reductions for City operations, as well as directly support the development of new solar energy systems in the surrounding Boston area. The terms of these contracts provide guaranteed solar electricity output and a fixed net-metering credit discount rate that will be applied as dollar credits to the City of Somerville’s electric accounts for 28 years.
