To the Honorable Board:

Tufts University has petitioned the Somerville Police Department to supplement their Law Enforcement efforts in hopes of promoting a peaceful and safe Spring Fling event on April 30, 2011.

Tufts has agreed to reimburse the Somerville Police Department for police staffing including one Captain, two Lieutenants, one Sergeant and eleven Patrolmen at a cost projection of up to six thousand, three hundred ($6,300.00) dollars.

In accordance with M.G.L., Chapter 44, Section 53A, which requires a vote of the Board of Aldermen for the expenditure of grants or gifts from the federal government and from a charitable foundation, private corporation, or an individual, or from the Commonwealth, a County or Municipality or agency thereof, I request Your Honorable Board's approval to accept reimbursement expenditures that will occur during Tufts University Spring Fling on April 30, 2011.

Thank you for consideration of this matter.

Respectfully submitted,

Joseph A. Curtatone
