To the Honorable City Council:

 

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $618,181.81 from FEMA to the Fire Department, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant requires partial matching funds from the city.

 

The purpose of this grant is to pay for the purchase of 68 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). A match of $61,818.19 is required of which $55,652.00 is currently appropriated for in our budget Fire Grant Match line. A separate request for approval to transfer $6,166.19 from existing funds into the Grant Match line will be requested separately.
