To the Honorable Board:

My name is Travis Wojcik and I am a a college student from Peabody. I have done extensive research on public transit projects and am heavily invested in my nearby projects. I urge you to only agree to pay $50 million to the MBTA if they issue a request to Medford for funds as well. I also urge the City of Somerville in and of itself to request the City of Medford to commit at least $8.3 million to the project. Currently, Somerville is receiving 75% of the work, five stations and a revised community path out of seven stations and a path (6 out of 8 major project points) and is being asked to pay $50 million. If this is the case, Medford should be asked to pay $8.3 million. This would help close the funding gap and it would be directly proportional to what Somerville is paying. I calculated the $8.3 million which your abutting municipality should pay based on $50 million over 75% being equal to X (the missing amount for Medford) over 12.5%. Cambridge has already committed $25 million to the project. If a Route 16 stop is added, the funding formula should be reassessed using the same simple proportion technique, however the percentages should be calculated at 22.2% of the work for Medford. This would result in Medford being requested to pay $14.8 million dollars, under the suggested math. Thank you for your time, and I wish for this to be entered as a written communication and read to the council prior to their vote tonight.

Sincerely,
Travis Wojcik
