Requesting the appropriation of $494,110.50 from the CPA Fund to the Somerville Hispanic Association for Community Development for improvements to the Grace Baptist Church building.

To the Honorable Board:

 

Per the Community Preservation Committee’s recommendation, I respectfully request that your Honorable Board appropriate $494,110.50 of Community Preservation Act funds, including $223,427.57 from the Historic Preservation reserve and $270,682.93 from the Budgeted reserve, to the Somerville Hispanic Association for Community Development (SHA4CD) for accessibility improvements and rehabilitation of the Grace Baptist Church building in which its programs are housed. The appropriation will be allocated to the Historic Preservation CPA category. The following funding conditions have been placed on the project: 1) For each element of the project scope, proposed improvements must receive approval of the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission and all necessary permits before funds will be disbursed; 2) Improvements must be compliant with ADA and MAAB regulations; 3) Upon commencement of the project and as appropriate, SHA4CD agrees to post a sign stating that the project was funded through the City of Somerville’s CPA program. Details of this request are available in the attached funding recommendation from the CPC.
