To the Honorable Board:

I respectfully request that your Honorable Board accept a grant of $100,000 from MA Department of Public Health to the Health & Human Services under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds. The purpose of this grant is to pay for Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative.  The communities of Somerville, Cambridge, Everett and Arlington will continue to build on their existing partnerships, share their resources, and coordinate their activities in order to create and implement regional approaches to preventing underage drinking and other drug use in their respective cities.

My staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank your for your consideration of this item.

Respectfully submitted,

Joseph A. Curtatone, Mayor
