Official Text
To the Honorable City Council:
I respectfully request a reduction of $277,972 in the appropriated FY2022 Veterans Enterprise Budget in order to balance the budget for the FY2022 Tax Recap submission to the Department of Revenue. The City no longer oversees the Veteran’s ice arena. DCR has management of Veterans with their vendor FMC. As a result budget adjustments were made to ensure efficacy in revenues equal to expenses.
The City will be receiving $35,000 in fees from the new management company for Founders ice arena. The City will continue provide snow shoveling and trash removal services for the rinks along with any necessary Founders building repairs. However, we will not be collecting revenue besides the annual $35,000 fee going forward.
The rink’s operations and personal services budgets has been significantly decreased as of November 1st. We have reduced our budget by $277,972 .Therefore, reaching our fiscal revenue goals is obtainable with the budgets adjustments made due to the City no longer operationally managing the rinks.
Consequently, the difference of $277,972 will need to be made up by a reduction in the budget. A balanced budget is required by the Department of Revenue in order to set the tax rate.
The reductions are requested from the following accounts:
$69,000 ---- Salaries
$57,561 ----- Salaries & Wages Temp
$75,000 ----- Electricity
$33,404 ---- Natural Gas
$6,000 ----- R & M
$1750 ----- R & M Tools & Equipment
$22,257 ---- Professional Technical
$12,000 ----- Supplies
$1,000 ----- Custodial & Maint Supplies
My staff will be available to address any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item.
Respectfully Submitted,
Joseph A. Curtatone, Mayor
